While a slew of events with Oscars ties was kicking off around Los Angeles (its a big week for parties), a few people such asZendaya, Donatella Versace, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Law Roach, and more were at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood toasting to sustainable fashion.
Aptly named and hosted by the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, attendees were challenged to arrive at the event in theirbest sustainably designed get-up.
Set on the hotels rooftop (albeit covered for the evening as guests had to bear an uncharacteristic wave of Los Angeles rain), the guest list was one just stacked enough to fill two long dinner tables.

Already set upon them before guests took their seats, a family-style serving of a tasty salad, hummus dip assortment, and Cameron Diaz-created Avaline wine.
On the menu next to each attendee’s nameplate, the main course was listed only as surprise, and for anyone who wasnt planning on having denim jeans for dinner, it was indeed a surprise and a delicious one.
That is pasta topped with a sauce courtesy of Candiani Denim, whose biodegradable jeans had been recycled into fertilizer used to grow tomatoes for the evenings meal.
Presenters and honorees of the night happened to also be among some of the most profound speech-givers and storytellers, with Vanessa Nakate presenting Mary Robinson with the Healer award, Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq receiving the Visionary award (he ended his speech with what he called a spirit-healing chant), and Bobi Wine and Barbie Kyagulanyi being honored with the Futurist award, welcomed to the podium by Rupi Kaur who first opened with a poem of her own.
Later in the evening, Kalpona Atkar received the Messenger award, Shaka Senghor, after sharing his incarceration story, presented John Legend with the Rebel award (he sang a snippet of Bob Marley & The Wailers Redemption Song), and Donatella Versace received the Game Changer Award from Michaela Jae Rodriguez and Jennifer Coolidge before UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres accepted the Sage award remotely.
Finally, a round of trays bearing Flor de Cana rum marked the final toast of the evening, and a few lingered behind to indulge while a handful of others said their goodbyes for the night.
