It was really about a beautiful girl and a beautiful dress.
Instead, they wanted to capture the subtle ease and glamour of Tashi.

Its a little carry-overmaybe its Tashi a few years later, says Roach.
But its mostly Zendaya, and where she is right now.
As a pioneer of the movement, Roach says he still loves seeing the approach on the red carpet.
I think it’s greatit gives people things to talk about and starts conversations, says Roach.
The best part about it is that the fans are entertained, because that’s what brings me joy.
It has the power to do that.
For his part, Roach is taking each red carpet moment day by day.
Where I am in my career and where our relationship is, there’s no pressure, says Roach.
I dont want to go into awards season in a place where I need be stressed about it.
Still, we simplyknowthis wont be the last red carpet that Zendaya and Roach shut down this year.
Plus, there are likely more awards for Zendaya to come.
Im proud of her.
Everybody knows that she’s like my little sister at this point, says Roach.
Hopefully there’s more awards to come for her.
And maybe for me, too!
