Blanca grew up immersed in this tradition.
I had no idea where we were going or when wed return, but I embraced the uncertainty.
Sharing sleepy moments and a few laughs with the crew at sunrise, I watched the transformation take place.

We arrived at dawn to a large tent surrounded by agave farmland.
Almost immediately, the trumpets began to play.
I wanted something more personal, something that captured the individuality of each mask and its wearer.

As the light shifted, I took intentional portraits, focusing on each mask and the person behind it.
Now, Id like to share them with a wider audience"
