The celebrity break-up has, for a long time, been thecoup de maitreof tabloid and internet gossip.
We dont just want to know whos broken up, but we want to knowwhyandexactlyhowthey got to this juncture.
Was it sudden, or had there been a slow and painful build-up?
Has one of them moved on already, and if so, who with?
Its weird, how invested we are in celebrity break-ups.
Does everyone cheat eventually?
You start to think.
Or, do me and my three-monthsituationshipwant different things?
I do actually think that this fascination, this emotional investment, doesnt begin and end with celebs.
A bit sad, even.
Why would they do this to me?
I thought nonsensically as I tapped through one of their Stories documenting a post-break-up vacation in Lanzarote.
When someone elses life appears fragile, or subject to change, you start fearing for your own.
Its not really our business.
And they will have broken up becausethey wanted to.
Or maybe its a whole disgusting mess, from start to finish.
Celebrities dont owe us fairy tales.
And we dont have to create fairy tales of our own lives, either.
