I caught myself.Too late?Too late forwhat, exactly?
It was more about keeping up with the current conversation.
In some ways, this consume-and-discard approach is part and parcel of my job.

Im supposed to keep up with whats happening, otherwise what would I have to write about?
But water-cooler topics are only a fraction of why I like to watch things.
(Quite different from the plain, concrete shapes of Hackney, where I grew up.)
But somewhere along the way, I started gamifying my viewing habits.
It probably aligned with the rise of online discourse and a semi social media-induced pressure to keep up.
Now, I feel bad if I havent seenall the Oscar-nominated films.
Im out here mainliningIndustrylike its homework.
Trying to win at pop culture sucks all the fun out of it.
So this year, Im embracing a much slower, more mindful approachslow-viewing, if you will.
I rewatchedGirlsfairly recently, an experience that was totally different the second time round.
On a recent Saturday, instead of going out, I stayed up watching old episodes ofTwin Peaks.
Next, I intend to finally see the 1993 filmDazed and Confused.
